It is a basic semi-finished product. After its processing the entire range of standard workpieces is obtained. These include both round rolled products (wire, rod) and flat (flat bar, sheet). It is very important to get high-quality products already at the melting stage, because otherwise the existing flaws can pass into the final products.

It is quite simple to buy a vanadium ingot. The company Metotechnics offers a wide size range of semi-finished products. You can make an order on the website on the page with prices, by email or by phone.

More information about the characteristics of vanadium ingots, its production, application and grades are presented on this page in the appropriate sections.

Grades

Materials for the production ingots products are provided by pure vanadium (V) and alloys based on it.

VnM-1 is pure vanadium with 99.38% of V, the other elements are impurities: 0.15% of Fe; 0.2% of Si; 0.2% of Al; 0.03% of C; 0.01% of N; 0.03% of O; 0.001% of H.

VnM-2 is also pure vanadium, but with a lower content of the main element - 99.04% of V. The qualitative composition of the impurities coincides with the grade VnM-1, but their quantity is slightly higher.

VV-8 - is vanadium with the addition of tungsten in an amount of 6-8% by weight; the content of the main component (V) is not less than 91.27%. The impurities are: silicon (Si) - 0.3%; iron (Fe) - 0.2% and aluminum (Al) - 0.2%.

The chemical composition of the grades VnM-1, VnM-2 is regulated by the technical conditions 48-4-272-73, VV-8 - by the technical conditions 48-4-304-74.

Production

Vanadium ingots are produced by cathode-ray melting. The metal is heated using an electron beam in a vacuum. At the same time, its power is easily regulated, which allows to use different melting modes. Because of the above conditions, this method can be used to obtain extremely pure materials containing a minimum amount of impurities.

Semi-finished products are produced in cylindrical shape with a length from 150 to 1500 mm. The minimum diameter of the ingot is 78 mm, and the maximum is 165 mm. Products made of VV-8 alloy are subjected to mechanical processing - the side and end surfaces are grinded.

Vanadium ingots obtained from pure V (VnM-1, VnM-2) must meet the requirements of the technical conditions 48-4-272-73, which regulates grades, sizes, mechanical properties, and the products delivery status. For similar products made of vanadium-tungsten alloy, the defining document is the technical conditions 48-4-304-74.

Application

Vanadium ingots are intermediate semi-finished products and are not directly used in final products. They serve as workpieces for the production of rolled products: vanadium rods, sheets and wire.

Vanadium is a widely used alloying element that significantly improves the strength characteristics of the material. For these purposes, ferrovanadium (an alloy of V and Fe) is usually used, but a pure vanadium ingot can also be used.
