Mixture plays an important role in the process of obtaining products from hard alloys being actually the initial element in this chain. The properties of the final product depend on the quality of the mixture . The main ones are mechanical strength and hardness. Currently, almost all the drilling tools, and also a significant part of the cutting tools, is entirely or partially made using these materials.
In the company Metotechnics you can buy hard alloy mixtures. Ordering via the site is available on the page with prices. You can also submit a request by email and phone.
More information about the grades, production methods, and application areas of these products is presented on this page in the appropriate sections.
Grades
Tungsten-cobalt hard alloy mixtures are produced under the grade VK. Their main components are tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co). Carbide provides the hardness and refractoriness of the material, and cobalt serves as a cementing binding metal.
Another important group is titanium-tungsten and titanium-tantalum-tungsten mixtures of hard alloys, produced under the grades TK and TTK, accordingly. Their base is still tungsten carbide (WC), and the binding metal is cobalt (Co). However, they additionally contain titanium carbide (TiC) - TK TTK, and tantalum carbide (TaC) - TTK.
Materials vary depending on the cobalt content. The number at the end of the grade indicates its percentage composition. For example, hard alloy of the grade VK8 contains 8% of cobalt (Co), VK6 - 6%, T30K4 - 4%, TT7K12 - 12%. They also include carbon (C), tungsten (W), titanium (Ti) and tantalum (Ta), depending on the group.
The chemical composition of materials VK, TK, TTK is regulated by the technical conditions 48-19-60-78.
Production
The raw material for the production of tungsten-cobalt hard alloy mixture is tungsten monocarbide powder (WC) and cobalt powder (Co). These components are mixed together, resulting in a solid alloy in a powder form. Titanium monocarbide (TiC) and tantalum (TaC) powders are additionally used for products of the grades TK and TTK.
Particle sizes, bulk density, delivery status, and mechanical properties of semi-finished products are regulated by the technical conditions 48-19-60-78.
Application
VK, TK, and TTK mixtures serve as raw materials for the production of hard alloys supplied in the form of billets and plates. For example, VK8 powder is used for the production of hard alloy of the same name.
Powder metallurgy methods are used to obtain the semi-finished products described above. The basic technological chain is: forming - > pressing -> sintering.
Hard alloys of the VK group are actively used in the production of drilling and cutting tools. VK8 and VK6 grades are used to produce cutters, drills, milling cutters and other tools intended for mechanical processing of workpieces. Hard alloy plates of the grades VK8, VK6 are also used in industry.
Materials belonging to the TK and TTK groups are mainly used for the production of cutting tools for various stages of mechanical processing of products (roughing, semi-finishing, finishing turning, milling, countersinking, etc.).
