Sn is actively used as a solder in the soldering process because of its low melting point. The considered semi-finished products are the most suitable for small size elements found in semiconductor devices. The resistance of this metal to corrosion provides protection of the coated metal surfaces.
On the website of Metotechnics you can buy tin wire and filament. You can order products by phone or email.
Technical specifications of the products and other useful information, are provided on this page in the appropriate sections. Another useful source of information is the standards, which can be found on our website.
Grades
Products are made of tin O1 and O2. The main component of these grades is Sn, the mass fraction of which is 99,900% and 99,565%, accordingly. The total content of impurities is quite small and is equal to 0.1% and 0.435%, accordingly. Among the most weighty is lead (Pb).
The chemical composition of grades O1 and O2 is presented in the standard GOST 860-75 and is regulated by it.
Production
Tin wire is produced as a result of the technological drawing operation. The initial billet is a rod.
Semi-finished products are produced with nominal diameters Ø 0,5; 0,8; 1,0; 1,5; 1,8; 2,0; 3,0 and 5.0 mm. Products of small diameters are delivered in coils, medium and large - in rolls.
Tin wire should have a clean surface without foreign inclusions, shells, cracks and traces of corroding by “tin plague”. There should be no delaminations or foreign inclusions in the bend.
Taking into account the low melting point of tin and low metal hardness, additional processing of products (chemical, thermal, mechanical) is not performed.
The sizes and delivery status of the considered semi-finished products are regulated by the standard TC 48-13-17-77.
It is worth noting that products of round section that have small diameter values (usually less than 0.1 mm) are usually called tin filament. GOST 25501-82 does not contain the definition of filament for workpieces and semi-finished products, but in practice this name is often used.
Application
Tin wire is used in the production of semiconductor devices and condenser construction. As a rule, tin is the solder material and provides the technological process of soldering. The considered product also acts as a source of Sn when coatings.
