Monel pipes are standard and widely used semi-finished products with a variety of application areas. The main one is the transportation of different substances. They are perfectly suitable for these purposes, taking into account the high corrosion and chemical resistance of the material, as well as its mechanical strength. Monel pipe allows to transfer various aggressive substances without fear of damage to the pipeline, and also significantly increases its service life. The described properties make this product very popular in certain industries.

It is quite simple to buy monel pipe and tube. MTK Metotekchnika offers a wide size range of products. You can make an order via website on the page with prices, by email or by phone.

You can learn more about the characteristics of monel pipe products, read about their production, application and grades on this page in the appropriate sections.

Grades

Products are made of copper-nickel alloy Monel 400, R-405, K-500. Its main components are cuprum (Cu) - 28.0-34.0% and nickel (Ni) - at least 63%. The alloy also includes ferrum (Fe) - 1.0-2.5% and manganese (Mn) - no more than 2.0%.

Production

Monel pipes are produced using broaching or rolling operations that belong to the class of pressure treatment, or welding.

In the first case, the workpieces are rods of round section, which are heated and then joined to get a hole. A tool made of hard and refractory materials, such as tungsten, molybdenum, or alloys based on them, is used for joining. Then, during the rolling process, products of the required diameter and wall thickness are obtained. Monel pipes produced by the considered method are seamless.

In the second case, the workpiece is a strip that is deformed under pressure in the shape of a pipe and then welded at the point of circle closure. The wall thickness matches to the thickness of the strip, and the outer diameter depends on its length. Monel pipe made this way is called a welded pipe.

Then the semi-finished products can be annealed and got a soft state as a result. If annealing is not performed, they remain solid. Chemical and mechanical processing of workpieces is not performed.

Product sizes, delivery status, and mechanical properties are regulated by the standards of Special Metals Corporation (USA), which holds the rights to the MONEL trademark.

It is worth noting that there is a term monel tubes, which refers to pipe products that have a small diameter and wall thickness.

Application

Monel pipe and tubes made of various monel-based alloys are widely used in areas where it is necessary to transfer aggressive substances that cause corrosion in most structural materials when interacting with them using pipelines. Monel is the most corrosion-resistant metal among copper-nickel alloys, which allows to use pipes made of this material even in the case of interaction with chemically active substances.

Pipes are used for transferring liquids on electric power stations, in oil pipelines, and other areas where high corrosion resistance is required.
