Currently powder metallurgy methods are very widely used for producing ready-made products of complex shape and set properties. They are used for making standard rectangular billets that serve as blanks for sheets and rods. So it can be concluded that molybdenum powder is a basic and widely used semifinished product.
Molybdenum powder can be purchased on Metotechnics website on the “Prices” page or by leaving a request via e-mail or by phone.
See the corresponding sections on this page for detailed information on the grades, production methods and applications of these products.
Grades
The products have MPCh grade. Depending on the further application, molybdenum content should be not less than 99.5-99.77%.
The chemical composition of the described material is regulated by TC 48-19-316-80, TC 48-19-69-80 standards.
Production
Molybdenum powder is made by reduction. The anhydride of this metal (MoO3)serves as the primary material and hydrogen is used as the reducing agent.
MPCh grade should contain not less than 92% grains with size less than 5 microns.s
The particle sizes, bulk density, supply condition are regulated by TC 48-19-316-80, TC 48-19-69-80 standards.
Molybdenum powder with a low grain size is also called molybdenum dust.
Application
The main application is an alloying agent for producing steel, cast iron and alloys. Powder with molybdenum content not less than 99.5%. This refractory metal strongly improves the structure of construction steels and cast iron so as the mechanical properties of steel and alloys, their red hardness, high temperature resistance, corrosive stability.
Powder metallurgy methods are used for making compacted molybdenum in form of billets. High-purity molybdenum is used in this case. After this strips, sheets, rods, wire and other semifinished products.
