Rod of round section or, in other words, round bar is widely used in industry. This semi-finished product has a fairly convenient shape for further processing, whether it is stamping or cutting. Cupronickel alloy provides products made of it with a sufficiently high resistance to corrosion in fresh and salt water, which allows to use them actively in shipbuilding.

In the company Metotechnics you can buy cupronickel rod and round bar. To do this, just call the phone, send a request by email, or make an order via the website on the page with the price list.

A detailed description of the production methods, grades, and recommendations for use of the described products are provided on this page in the appropriate sections.

Grades

Rods and round bars are produced of copper-nickel alloy cupronickel grades MN19, MN25, MNZHMc30-1-1. MN19 alloy consists of nickel + cobalt (Ni + Co) - at least 78.6%, copper (Cu) - 18-20%, and also contains various impurities; MN25 consists of nickel + cobalt (Ni + Co) - at least 72.6%, copper (Cu) - 24-26%, and also contains various impurities.

The industry produces the grade MN19VI. The letters VI at the end of the designation indicate that this alloy was made using a special method of smelting, namely, vacuum-induction melting.

The chemical composition of cupronickel MN19, MN25 is given in the standard GOST 492-2006.

Production

Cupronickel round bars and rods are produced using the technological operations of pulling, or cold rolling. They can be made both in a soft state (annealed), and in a hard state (cold-worked). Etching of the surface is not possible.

Cupronickel wire can be obtained in the case when a semi-finished product of a round section and a small diameter is required. A drawing operation is performed for this purpose, the source material for which is a rod.

The sizes, mechanical properties, and delivery status of these products are regulated by the standard technical conditions 48-21-191-72.

Very often, rod of round section is called cupronickel round bar. This is true for semi-finished products of a sufficiently large diameter. For example, cupronickel round bars with a diameter of Ø 90 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm and more. GOST 25501-82 does not contain the definition of round bar for blanks, but in practice this name is often used for products of round section and large diameter.

Application

Cupronickel rod and round bar are widely used in industries where there are high requirements for the corrosion resistance of products in the environment of salt (sea) and fresh water. These areas include shipbuilding, and also the production of heat exchangers. Cupronickel wire is often used for making various jewelry and decorative items because of its small size and attractive appearance.
