Cupronickel combines such properties as good corrosion resistance and plasticity on the one hand, and a beautiful appearance on the other. These factors made this metal popular in industrial areas, and also allowed to use it in the creation of jewelry. Cupronickel filament and wire proved to be very demanded in industry and everyday life.

In Metotechnics you can buy cupronickel wire and filament. For orders that can be made in different ways (phone, fax, email, website), the grade MN19VI and others are available.

More information about the grades, production methods and application areas of the described products is presented in the appropriate sections on this page.

Grades

The wire is made of cupronickel MN19VI, MNZHMc30-1-1. The main components of the grade MN19VI are copper (Cu) - 78.5-82% and nickel (Ni) - 18-20%; the amount of impurities is 1.5%. It belongs to the group of copper-nickel alloys.

The letters VI in the designation indicate the production method of the material and mean vacuum-induction melting. This method allows to minimize the amount of impurities, which, in turn, helps to improve its properties.

The chemical composition of cupronickel MN19VI is presented and regulated by the standard GOST 492-2006.

Production

The main technological operation that is used to produce cupronickel wire and filament is dragging. It is carried out on special devices - drawing mills. The most important role in them plays portages and devices that perform the broaching of workpieces through them. The source materials are cupronickel rods of small diameter. Wire is used to produce filament. Cupronickel is quite plastic and well processed by pressure, which includes dragging.

Cupronickel wire, as well as filament, can be supplied both heat treated - in soft state, and untreated - in solid state. If necessary, the surface is etched to clean it from pollutions that occurred at the production stage.

The diameter of the resulting product varies from 0.05 to 5 mm. Cupronickel wire of small diameters (usually less than 1 mm) is often called cupronickel filament. This term is not described in the standard GOST 25501-82, which regulates the names of industrial semi-finished products, but in practice it is often used.

Application

Traditionally, cupronickel is used both in high-tech industries and in the production of everyday items. The technological areas where cupronickel filament and wire are used, include medicine, or rather the production of medical instruments. Jewelry made of cupronickel and various decorative elements are widely used in everyday life. In such products, a small size of the initial workpiece is required, that is just actual for wire and especially filament.

Prices

The prices for wire and filament made of cupronickel are presented on the Cost page. In addition, online order of products is available through the site.
