Flat bar is a type of rolled sheet. Compared with a classic sheet, it has a significantly smaller width. Therefore, its application as a structural material in large-sized products is not provided. However, corrosion protection in sea and fresh water may also be required for relatively small appliances and devices. For example, for elements of pumping equipment.
On the website Metotechnics you can buy cupronickel flat bars. It is also possible to order products by phone or email.
Technical parameters of semi-finished products, and other useful information are provided on this page in the appropriate sections. Product standards are also a useful source of information, which can be found on our website.
Grades
Flat bars are made of cupronickel MN19.
Copper-nickel alloy MN19 has the following chemical composition: copper (Cu) - 80-82%, nickel + cobalt (Ni + Co) - 18.0-20.0%, iron (Fe) - no more than 0.5%, manganese (Mn) - no more than 0.3%.
The chemical composition of the grade MN19 is regulated by the standard GOST 492-2006.
Production
Cupronickel flat bars are produced by rolling method. They can be hot-rolled or cold-rolled.
During hot rolling, the workpieces are subjected to heating. Depending on the final thickness of the product, rolling can be performed in several passes. After the main process, a number of auxiliary operations are performed to give the product the necessary technological and mechanical properties, and also required values of length and width. These operations include editing and mechanical finishing (processing), trimming edges, cutting.
Cold rolling is performed without additional heating of the workpieces. However, after this technological operation, cupronickel flat bars can be subjected to heat treatment - annealing. As a result of annealing, they become soft.
Cupronickel flat bar can have a maximum length of 2 m (2000 mm), a width of 600 mm, and a thickness of 20 mm. The minimum sizes match to the values 0,5x40x500 mm (thickness x width x length).
The sizes, delivery status and mechanical properties of products made of MN19 alloy are regulated by the standard GOST 5063-73.
Application
Cupronickel flat bar has high corrosion resistance in such environments as sea and fresh water. This property is particularly useful in industries related to shipbuilding, the production of medical instruments and products for water supply.
The described products are also used in the national economy. It is used to produce tableware and dishes. Stamping of cupronickel flat bars is used for these purposes.
