There are no size, mechanical properties, delivery status or other requirements for such semi-finished products that are specific for example for wire. The main requirement is accordance of the chemical composition to the standard. This is due to the fact that the Cobalt blank and ingot are only used as a charge for the smelting of special steels and alloys.
In the company Metotechnics you can buy Cobalt ingot and blank. Just call the phone, send a request by email or make an order via the website on the page with the price list.
A detailed description of the production methods of these products, grades and recommendations for use are presented on this page in the appropriate sections. There are also links to standards that are important sources of technical information.
Grades
Products are made from cobalt of grade K1Au. The main component is Co, which mass fraction is at least 99.35%. Among the most weighty impurities are nickel (Ni) - no more than 0.3% and ferrum (Fe) - no more than 0.2%.
The chemical composition of the К1Ау grade is standardized by the GOST 123-2008.
Production
Cobalt blanks and ingots are obtained by electric melting. The feedstock for this operation is Cobalt oxide.
Semi-finished products are produced with a maximum weight of 25 kg. They are not subjected to additional thermal, chemical or mechanical processing, and may have an uneven surface (bumps, recesses).
The sizes, delivery status of Cobalt blanks and ingots are regulated by the GOST 123-2008.
Application
The main areas where semi-finished products are used:
Co acts as an alloying additive to various materials, which improves their properties. In this case, the addition of this metal increases their strength and wear-resistance (tool steels and alloys) and also significantly increases the resistance to demagnetization (alloys for the production of permanent magnets).
Cobalt ingots (blanks) are added to the melt as a charge during the process of obtaining materials by melting.
