High resistance and sufficient heat resistance determine its application. Fecral rods are commonly used in high-power furnaces while wire and filament are suitable for making round heaters of electric furnaces with low and medium power. At the same time, it is a universal blank for producing round semifinished materials of lower diameter.

The description of these products, grade and recommendations for application are given on this page in the corresponding sections.
Grades
The products are made of Aluchrom W, CrAl 23 5 (aka FeCrAl 135 or Kanthal® APM) and CrAl 27 7 (FeCrAl H) fecral. These alloys include iron (Fe), chrome (Cr) and aluminium (Al). The content of the chemical element depends on the certain grade. E.g., Aluchrom W contain 13.5-15.5% and 21.5-23.5% Cr and 4.5-5.5% Al.
Chemical composition of Aluchrom W, CrAl 23 5 and CrAl 27 7 precision alloys are regulated by GOST 10994-74 standard.

Production
Fecral rods are made by rolling. In this case it is performed simultaneously with heating the blanks (hot rolling).
Fecral rods can be produced both in soft (with help of heat treatment of the blank) and in hard form. In some cases the surface is pickled for cleaning it from possible contaminants left from the rolling.
Sizes of semifinished materials, mechanical properties, supply condition, resistance and maximum working temperatures are regulated by GOST 12766.4-90 standard.
Round-section rods are often called fecral round bars. GOST 25501-82 does not have a definition “round bar for blanks and semifinished products”, but it is often actually used.
Application
Fecral round bars and rods are used as blanks for round heaters of high-power electric furnaces and lead-out connections of electric equipment.
